Property Description
An extraordinary opportunity to acquire a real piece of history and a residence that has almost endless possibilities. Originally built in the 19th century, since 1938 the property has been a private residence. As well as a large, welcoming kitchen/dining area of some 30 sqm on the ground floor, the property is rightly dominated by its characterful spiral staircase taking you through the centre of the house. To the first floor, there are multiple rooms allowing you to adapt to your own, personal needs, and leading further up a reminder of the house's past sits proud at the top of the house. Doors either side open on to the expansive roof space of around 125 sqm, with its own airspace which could be utilised for your own pool, jacuzzi etc. or used simply for socialising. An optional garage is also available. The property has been in the same family since its industrial days, with the current owners descendants of those trades, and so this truly is a once in a lifetime chance. As if this wasn't enough, further possibilities lie within! Adjoining is a 2 bedroom house with its own, separate access and occupied by a life tenant. The future owners of the main house will have first option to purchase the tenanted house (red edged on the floorplan), when the current tenant vacates. Full details of the tenanted house can be seen under reference SHC488074.
Where you'll live
Zurrieq
The largest village in the area, it is also the centre of most of its commercial activities. It has also been one of the oldest to be established as a separate parish church, and thus it precedes all the other villages that are within the immediate vicinity. Zurrieq has always been one of those villages that attracted people from smaller hamlets. Hal Millieri, a case in point, was still thriving up to the late 16th century, but by the turn of the 17th century it dwindled and today only its names survive. Most its inhabitants went to live either at Zurrieq, or else in nearby villages. The area surrounding Zurrieq is also famous for its wonderful country walks. A walk from the parish center towards the cliffs overlooking the Blue Grotto, would lead one through wonderful scenery, including the valleys of the area as well.
