Introducing the Malta Permanent Residence Programme (MPRP), an exclusive ‘residency by investment’ initiative designed to offer permanent residency in Malta to qualified individuals. This program, often referred to as MPRP, requires investments in qualifying property along with government contributions. It boasts a streamlined processing time of 4-6 months, commencing with the submission of a complete and accurate application, and has superseded the previous Malta Residence & Visa Programme (MRVP).

Benefits of the Malta Permanent Residence Programme

Successful applicants gain the privilege to reside in Malta permanently, enjoying the country’s rich culture, favourable climate, and high standard of living.

Visa-free travel is granted across the Schengen region, allowing individuals to travel seamlessly for up to 90 out of 180 days.

Access to invest in Malta’s thriving real estate market, offering lucrative opportunities for property investment.

Up to four generations of family members can be included in a single application, fostering family unity and security.

Eligibility & Personal Criteria

Open to non-EU, non-EEA, non-Swiss & third-country nationals, excluding applicants from “sanctioned” countries.

Applicants must not be beneficiaries of any other residency schemes or programs.

Demonstrated receipt of stable and regular income, along with sufficient financial resources to cover oneself and included family members.

Proof of capital assets totaling not less than €500,000, with a minimum of €150,000 allocated to financial assets.

Clean criminal record and no threat to national security or public interest.

Application Process

Complete and submit the application through a Licensed Agent, ensuring compliance with all requirements.

Pay a non-refundable administrative fee of €40,000 to cover processing costs.

Rent a property with a minimum annual rent of €10,000 in the South of Malta & Gozo, or €12,000 for the rest of Malta. Alternatively, purchase a property with a minimum value of €300,000 in the South of Malta & Gozo, or €350,000 for the rest of Malta.

Pay a Government contribution of €28,000 for property buyers or €58,000 for lessees. Additional fees apply for each adult dependent.

Hold the rented or purchased property for a minimum period of 5 years.

Make a donation of €2000 to a registered local philanthropic, cultural, scientific, artistic, sport, or animal welfare NGO.

Possess valid travel and sickness insurance coverage as per program requirements.
